AMAZING FROZEN PATTERNS SCULPTED BY WINTER WAVES

Have you ever see the sea in Winter yet? Not me. I live far away from the ocean. So I made up my mind and went with my husband to visit the coasts of Maine in December. For an artist like me, traveling brings me a lot of inspiration. You can observe different phenomena and behaviors from my neck of the woods.

Sunrise in winter

I had a great experience this December 8, 2019. As every time I visit the seaside, I get up early in the morning to watch the sunrise. It is still dark. The city sleeps peacefully. Fortunately, the snow was there and the weather was freezing. It absolutely had to be cold. The cold was biting my skin and even more when we were near the sea. It was around -21 ° C. According to the weather report, this day was actually the coldest of December. Luckily, we were dressed like onions.

Winter Waves

The beach was partly covered with snow. The sand in some places seemed as hard as concrete. You could see from afar the small and heavy waves that rocked gently and pushed massive slush Danish Pastry. Yes, slush, like this icy, delicious and grainy texture that refreshes us on scorching hot summer days. Nature is full of surprises.

Patterns

When the sun showed up, he caressed these magnificent sculptures created by the waves and the spectacle was extraordinary. Light and shadow play designing a polar atmosphere. Many icy patterns were drawn by the waves letting the imagination emerge. They are real ephemeral abstractions. What a beautiful work of nature.

Winter Seascapes are so romantic

I find the winter seascapes to be so romantic. I am sensitive to the sweetness of these fabulous decorations of nature.  We have the impression of freedom, peace and serenity. Like us, the few courageous people who braved the cold lived special moments. This odyssey was worth the many kilometers traveled.
